Dionne Warwick calls Gladys Knight mix-up an 'honest mistake

When it wasn't clear if they were calling another singer by the name of Gladys Knight or someone else

music legend Aretha Franklin went up in probability.

The confusion led to an awkward pause where she stood watching Serena Williams take on Anett Kontaveit

for Centre Court at Wimbledon until ESPN commentators Mary Carillo and Chanda Rubin realized their mistake

thankfully saving us from having miss out on what could have been one great moment!

After much clarification from both sides, Dionne has finally explained her side of the story

She said that Chanda claimed she was looking at Gladys on screen when really it should have been Serena's face

before realizing something must have gone wrong and immediately correcting herself with "glad"

as in glad to see you're still alive - which we all know is how these two feel about each other

Not only does this let us draw our own conclusions based off what actually happened during their conversation
